The Supplement Industry Doesn't Want You To Know This: Omega-3 Does Not Cancel Out Cake
There is no pill that works like a receipt.
You've seen the headline a hundred times. Take this one supplement and eat whatever you want. Maybe it was fish oil. Maybe it was a vitamin with a name like a spaceship. The promise is always the same: swallow this, and the rules don't apply to you anymore.

The myth of the magic eraser
A supplement is, at best, a small helpful thing. A little bit of something your body might be low on. What it is not is a magic eraser that goes through your stomach afterwards collecting the cake.
Your body does not do accounting. It does not look at the capsule and the cake and say "well, those cancel." It just gets both.
What omega-3 actually is
It's a fat found in fish. People who eat fish a couple of times a week tend to do pretty well, and that's the whole, unglamorous story. Whether the capsule version does much of anything for a given person is a question for your doctor, not for an advertisement with a sunset on it.
The actual secret (you're not going to like it)
Here it is, the thing the "industry" doesn't want you to know: the cake is fine.
Not every day. Not the whole cake. But a slice at a birthday, enjoyed, with no guilt and no capsule chaser? That's just living. The problem was never the cake. The problem was the idea that you needed permission from a pill.
Eat the cake. Skip the receipt.
One thing before you go
If you take supplements, any supplements, write them on the same list as your medications and bring it to your appointment. Some of them get in the way of prescription drugs, and your doctor can't warn you about a bottle they don't know exists.
